One of my favorite things is finding the perfect gift for my family and friends (and myself!). With so many gift options online, I was excited to find Jasmine + Marigold – a South Asian inspired clothing line for women, children and babies! Jasmine+Marigold carries designs that reflect South Asian culture and are fun and personal. With tanks, tees, and onesies for both Indian and Pakistani cultures, J+M has designs for South Asian (Desi) holidays, families, and life events such as weddings. I can’t wait to wear the Dulhan tank on my honeymoon! After connecting with Sidra, founder of Jasmine+Marigold, I was excited to try one of the designs. I selected a lounge tank, which was so comfortable to wear. The “But First Chai…” was perfect for me since my day starts with morning chai. Since the tank arrived, I’ve worn it every morning for the last week while having my chai and following my morning routine. For the last ten years, my morning is always the same. I wake up, say my prayers, have my morning chai, and then finish with yoga and a run on a good day. The tank is now my go-to lounge wear! I also love all the super cute baby clothes too. #DiningSpotlight – The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City ‘Petite Socialite’ Afternoon Tea

Ritz Carlton Pentagon City Petite Socialite Afternoon Tea X Social and Style 6

// The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City Petite Socialite Afternoon Tea //

Last week, I found out I had a last minute business trip back home in DC. Going back home to DC for the first time after getting married and moving to Sonoma was both emotional and so much fun! The best thing about going home is being able to spend time with family and friends. Sitting at home, talking to my mom for hours over chai and her home cooking was just what I needed. Of course I love married life and our home in Sonoma, but there’s something about going back home that makes you feel so comforted and loved. During my trip, I was so happy to meet up with friends, I was soon going out almost everyday from happy hours at City Center to dinners with my best friends. While I loved going out, by the end of my trip, all I wanted to do was sit in the kitchen and have quality mom time! Thankfully, I was able to find to balance of family and friend time along with work. To celebrate one of my most memorable trips, I wanted to take my mom somewhere relaxing and fun where we could get dressed up, chat, and of course take pictures. Yes, I get it all from my beautiful spirited graceful mom! The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City was the perfect place to enjoy our Saturday and their famed afternoon tea experience. We selected the “Petite Socialite”, a new Afternoon Tea Party offering. In addition to a private Afternoon Tea reservation in the club lounge, the package included edible glitter dipped fruit, delicate French macaroons, assorted miniature cupcakes, and sparkling cider served in champagne flutes. Here are a few of our favorite moments!

#DiningSpotlight – How we Brunch – Ritz Carlton Pentagon City

Ritz Carlton Pentagon City Sunday Brunch x Social and Style 4000

// Sunday Brunch – Ritz Carlton Pentagon City //

Last Monday, I found out I would be traveling back to DC for a business trip! I booked my tickets and was so excited to go back home to Maryland. As most of you know, I lived in the DC area my whole life and was so happy to see family and friends during my trip. What I love most about DC is the energy and people. There is a buzz of excitement that keeps me energized. I feel so blessed to have been able to meet so many loved ones on such short notice. Two of these people are my blogger besties Nikki and Sophie (@Damselinthatdress, @ADashofSophie). One of my favorite things about blogging is making connections with people who you click with instantly. Blogging can sometimes be lonely and kind of self-involved with so many photo shoots, events, and always being on-the-go. I’m thankful to have found people who love blogging, but also understand that relationships, meaningful connections, and supporting each other are way more important than the number of followers you have or the number of likes on a post. One of our favorite things to do when Nikki, Sophie, and I get together is try the amazing food scene in DC! Personally, brunch is my favorite way to hang out with my girlfriends and eat delicious food.  Having heard about the brunch at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City for years, I couldn’t wait to try the Sunday Brunch. From the buffet spread to the yummy menu options, we loved every detail about our brunch. With impeccable flavors, food options, desserts, mimosas, champagne, and ambiance – we can honestly say the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City Brunch is one of the BEST brunch spots in DC! Here are a few highlights from our blogger’s brunch!

#PowerWomen – Meet Sumaira Nabeel Founder of Indus Threads

Social and Style x Indus Threads x Ayesha Hashwani 12

//Outfit – Indus Threads //

From Coke Studio to serials such as Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai, I love Pakistani influenced arts and culture. For me, Pakistani fashion is a work of art. From the detailed embroidery to the silhouettes, I love the attention to detail. While I strive to support next generation designers, I also have to keep my budget in mind when deciding on pieces to invest in. So many of you messaged me about how my previous post on Indus Threads resonated with you. I’m sure we can all relate to spending quite a bit on our South Asian outfits only to wear them once or twice. And then they likely go out of style. Indus Threads provides access to a wide range of Indian and Pakistani high-end designers from established design houses to up and coming artists. I learned about designer Ayesha Hashwani on Indus Threads’ website and couldn’t wait to try this royal blue kaftan suit. The outfit is so unique and it was so fun to try something out of my comfort zone. I added a gold Clutch from Arya Trinkets and Threads and a statement bangle from H&M to complete the look. I sat down Sumaira, the founder of Indus Threads to learn more about how she started the company and her vision for the future.

#SummerStyle with Arya Trinkets & Threads

Social and Style Arya of USA 60

// Clutch – Arya Trinkets & Threads //

Hope you all are having a great summer! I’ve been enjoying the California sunshine and my new home here in Sonoma. Since moving to Cali, I’ve noticed a few things about myself and fashion style. Honestly, I’ve been in a bit of a style rut these past few months. As a fashion blogger, I am always writing about trying new things and experimenting. Yet, I noticed from my Instagram feed that most of my looks have the same type of style and feel. The main reasons are that I gravitate to a lot of floral prints and coral / pink colors. After a while (and a closet full of flower prints!), I wanted to make a change.  My first experiment was styling a date night outfit.  I wanted something that was in trend, easy to wear, and different from what I normally wear – but still reflected my style philosophy. When I started Social and Style, I wanted to create a platform that reflected my values, passion, and South Asian heritage. Personally, I love adding South Asian touches to my outfits. For the date night look, I wore my favorite jeans with a tank and added a choker to give the look a bit of edge. To finish the style, I selected a gold clutch from Arya Trinkets & Threads.  After seeing Arya Trinkets & Threads on Etsy, I love how the brand derives inspiration from South Asian antique and contemporary pieces and injects their own little signature twist to it. Check out Arya Trinkets & Threads to see more of their fashion and accessories collection!
