Moving to a new country isn’t easy. Simple things like grocery shopping, taking the train, and finding fitness classes can seem daunting. As I adjust to our life in Singapore, I’m getting into a rhythm and finding our new normal. I’ve decided to treat this time as an adventure to learn more about my new home! Discovering different parts of town and meeting new people, make exploring even more fun. For me, GuavaPass has become a welcoming friend in our new home. GuavaPass is a community of fitness studios and healthy-living experts in Singapore, and across South East Asia and the Middle East. With GuavaPass, you get access to a wide range of studio classes and instructors for a monthly subscription fee. Thanks to GuavaPass, I have been able to explore Singapore by taking classes in different parts of town. The easy to use site and app make finding classes simple. You search by neighborhood and type of class you are looking for. So far, I’ve taken outdoor bootcamp at Fort Canning, pilates in Dhoby Ghaut, and power yoga in the CBD! I’m also loving the classes at GuavaLabs on Orchard Road at the Mandarin Gallery, taught by GuavaPass partner studios. One of the best things about GuavaPass is that you can meet people who have similar interests. The people I met through GuavaPass have been so friendly and welcoming! Here are a few more reasons why I’m loving GuavaPass.

My Sister’s Garden Themed Baby Shower

Garden Themed Baby Shower Dresses

Next month, I will be a Masi 2x! Being a Masi (Aunt) is such an amazing feeling and a role I treasure deeply. My nephew Shaan has brought so much joy into our lives and we can’t wait for Shaan’s little sister to arrive. To celebrate, we held a Garden Themed Baby Shower for my sister. Since I was moving to Singapore the following week, my Mom and I planned the baby shower over the phone and got all the decorations three days before the celebration! Thankfully we had a lot of support from our family and friends. From my best friend Ashima, who designed the beautiful cake, to my friends who helped with all the clean up – the shower was perfect. My sister does so much for our family and is always there to support me. We were so excited to shower her with love and celebrate!  Here’s how we planned the shower and my favorite memories!

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is such a beautiful holiday. Taking time to reflect on what you are grateful for and celebrating with loved ones is so important in the face-paced world we live in. For the first time in my life, I’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving outside the US. Living in Singapore, I’ve been introduced to the large expat community here. There are lot of Thanksgiving celebrations all over the country and I am looking forward to celebrating with new friends. This Thanksgiving is even more special for me since I have so much to be thankful for. Not having my mom act like world is ending – now that I am finally married is probably what I am most thankful for. Just kidding (ok maybe not ;) Jokes aside, I wanted to share what I am most thankful for this Thanksgiving since you are one of them!

Staycation at The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City

Best Place for a Staycation in DC for a family

Before moving to Singapore, I spent 2 weeks back home in Washington D.C. Spending time with my Mom (who lives in Maryland), and my sister and family from Houston, was the perfect way to spend our last few weeks in the US. Since both our husbands had conferences in D.C. during the week, my sister and I decided to treat our mom to a staycation and enjoy mother-daughter time. The timing was perfect for so many reasons. Our mom, who worked for over 20 years, finally decided to retire and we wanted to celebrate this new chapter! My sister, who is almost seven months pregnant, wanted to relax and unwind together. And my nephew Shaan turned 5 that week and we wanted to make his birthday in D.C. truly memorable. When looking for places for the staycation, ambiance and location were our main criteria. We wanted to stay somewhere that was both special and within the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. The Ritz-Carlton at Pentagon City met the criteria and then some! From the exceptional service to the kid-friendly atmosphere, we will always treasure our staycation at The Ritz. Here are some highlights!

#DesignerSpotlight – Meet Tracy Smith – Founder of Miss Desi Couture

Custom Indian designer

One of my favorite things to do is design my own Indian outfits, inspired by the latest trends and my personal style. For my first Diwali as a newlywed,  I wanted to wear something that reflected the excitement and sentiment of the Indian New Year. Thankfully I found Tracy Smith – founder of Miss Desi Couture –  just at the right time! Tracy believes in traditional South Asian outfits with a modern twist! Together we designed a beautiful lengha with a flowing cape. After sharing the final look, so many of you wanted to learn more about Tracy and her design philosophy. I chatted with Tracy to learn more about what inspires her and what’s next for Miss Desi Couture!
