What’s in My Hospital Bag?!

Getting ready for the home stretch! My due date is September 1st but I have a feeling Baby B will be making his debut early – let’s see! I can’t believe what a difference 2-weeks makes when you are pregnant. At 34 weeks – I will still pretty active, able to get around, and busy with baby prep. Since then, my energy level has dropped considerably. My hands and feet are still constantly swollen and my back is strained with the baby’s growing weight. Over the weekend, I could hardly leave the house, but finally did to go to the Temple (to receive blessings for our Baby B) and get my eyebrows done. My husband said he’s never seen me so determined than that Saturday evening when I just had to get my brows fixed up! Honestly, the last few days have been pretty overwhelming. When I feel the kicks and flutters of my little one – those feelings fade away. I am focusing on the blessings and excitement of meeting Baby B soon. It’s tough but so worth it.  If you follow me on Instastories, you know we finished the nursery just in time! I can’t wait to do a reveal soon. In the meantime, I’m exited to share what’s in my hospital bag. Please let me know if I am missing anything!

#DesignHouseSpotlight – Sue Mue

So many of you asked about the dress I wore for my maternity shoot. When I posted the dress on Instastories, I’ve received lots of messages asking about the brand, details, and how you can get your own! I am excited to share my experience with Sue Mue. I first heard about Sue Mue a few years ago through Instagram. From the photos, I could tell the Design House was unique in their embroidery, silhouettes, and styles. What I love about Sue Mue is that they are so on trend (hello bell sleeves!) yet maintain a beautiful Indian aesthetic throughout their designs. When I decided to have my maternity shoot, I knew Sue Mue would have the perfect dress for me. I worked with Mahima and team to select a be-spoke dress from their PRET collection. Sue Mue kindly suggested to change the color of the dress from blush pink to baby blue. Next I sent over my measurements so the dress would fit just right. When I received the garment, I was so pleased! The outfit fit great and the color was the perfect shade of blue. What I loved most were the details. The yellow birds and flowers adorning the front melted my heart. Also loved that the bell sleeves gave the look a romantic yet contemporary feel. When it comes to maternity shoots, I love flowy dresses that are comfortable for you and your bump! I’m so excited that Sue Mue is exhibiting with the The Boutique in Singapore on the 7th of September at the Holiday Inn Orchard. The dress I wore will also be exhibited in the original color! Find out more about Sue Mue below!

How To Plan An Easy Breezy Maternity Shoot!

I’m excited to share my Singapore Maternity Shoot! After my birth announcement and babymoon, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do a maternity shoot. During these last few weeks, as I reached closer to my due date, I start thinking about what life will be like after pregnancy. It was then I realized, I wanted to capture this precious time. It’s been an incredible 8 months and a time I will always remember.  Thankfully, I already had the perfect photographer in mind – Vinod from NIN9 Studios. From there, I teamed up with one of my favorite Design Houses Sue Mue (more about my collaboration with Sue Mue in my next post!) to design my dream outfit. When thinking of a theme, I knew I wanted something fun and whimsical. After following Celebloons on Instagram, I was excited to finally work together. I love their creative the balloon designs and they were so fun to play with! Honestly, doing a maternity shoot at 36 weeks did get pretty tiring. Selecting accessible locations, going easy on the props, and planning in advance, made the shoot as easy and breezy as possible. I’m excited to share my experience with you!

#DesignerSpotlight – Janam Maternity Saris & Beyond!

Maternity Sari c/o Janam Maternity

4 more weeks to go! It’s hard to believe that I am 36 weeks pregnant and full term – meaning Baby B could arrive anytime. With each day, I feel more prepared for the little one’s arrival. With the kicks becoming stronger, I have a feeling Baby B is excited to meet us too! As I enter the home stretch, it’s amazing to think about how much my mind, body, and life has changed. In the last few weeks, I feel pretty fatigued (all the time) and my hands, feet, and face are constantly swollen. Accepting these changes and not trying to push myself has helped me understand what’s important and how to prioritize. These days it’s all about comfort. I focus on how to feel calm and comfortable in my everyday life. When I connected with Parul, founder of Janam Maternity, her passion for creating comfortable and stylish South Asian maternity fashion resonated with me. I couldn’t wait to try the maternity sari for myself. As you know, I love Indian fashion but that has taken a back seat during pregnancy since most of my outfits didn’t fit or were too uncomfortable to wear. Janam Maternity has changed all that with the genius patent-pending Maternity Sari! The Maternity Sari is different from normal saris in many ways. First, the sari comes pre-pleated which alone is such a brilliant idea since I have so much trouble tying my own sari. Most important, the Maternity Sari comes with an expandable belly band to be worn around or below the belly. The sari took me less than 5 minutes to put on and I felt so at ease. Janam Maternity also makes Maternity Saris that cover the entire belly and nursing sari blouses! I chatted with Parul, a lawyer turned fashion entrepreneur  to learn more about the inspiration behind Janam Maternity!

Pregnancy Myths Decoded

Dress c/o Mayarya

I can’t believe I’m already 34 weeks pregnant! It feels like yesterday when I was in my first trimester, nervous about everything. Since then, I’ve learned to relax and enjoy my pregnancy. Now that I am in my last weeks, I’m reflecting on all that I’ve learned during these last 8 months. It’s amazing how much your body goes through and how you learn to trust and listen to your body (and growing baby!). It’s both mentally and physically exhausting, but truly a beautiful time. As I get closer to 40 weeks, I can feel the Baby’s movements more vividly every day. I wonder what it’s going to going to be like after pregnancy and that sets off a whole new feeling of nervousness!
