#DesignerSpotlight – Janam Maternity Saris & Beyond!

Maternity Sari c/o Janam Maternity

4 more weeks to go! It’s hard to believe that I am 36 weeks pregnant and full term – meaning Baby B could arrive anytime. With each day, I feel more prepared for the little one’s arrival. With the kicks becoming stronger, I have a feeling Baby B is excited to meet us too! As I enter the home stretch, it’s amazing to think about how much my mind, body, and life has changed. In the last few weeks, I feel pretty fatigued (all the time) and my hands, feet, and face are constantly swollen. Accepting these changes and not trying to push myself has helped me understand what’s important and how to prioritize. These days it’s all about comfort. I focus on how to feel calm and comfortable in my everyday life. When I connected with Parul, founder of Janam Maternity, her passion for creating comfortable and stylish South Asian maternity fashion resonated with me. I couldn’t wait to try the maternity sari for myself. As you know, I love Indian fashion but that has taken a back seat during pregnancy since most of my outfits didn’t fit or were too uncomfortable to wear. Janam Maternity has changed all that with the genius patent-pending Maternity Sari! The Maternity Sari is different from normal saris in many ways. First, the sari comes pre-pleated which alone is such a brilliant idea since I have so much trouble tying my own sari. Most important, the Maternity Sari comes with an expandable belly band to be worn around or below the belly. The sari took me less than 5 minutes to put on and I felt so at ease. Janam Maternity also makes Maternity Saris that cover the entire belly and nursing sari blouses! I chatted with Parul, a lawyer turned fashion entrepreneur  to learn more about the inspiration behind Janam Maternity!

#DesignerSpotlight – LS Art & Illustration

One of my favorite aspects of blogging is meeting creative and inspiring people. At the start of the year, I started noticing illustrations by LS Art & Illustration on Instagram. Lakshmi, founder of LS Art & Illustration, and I both share a passion for the arts, fashion, and South Asian culture. We soon connected and started chatting about ideas for a collaboration. I loved seeing  Lakshmi’s sketching of South Asian designers and muses. We soon agree that sketching one of my bridal looks would be the perfect way for Lakshmi to showcase her talent and share her sketches with readers. I love how she captured the design and flow of my sangeet outfit so vividly.  I also can’t wait to do a live sketching session when I back on the East Coast. I chatted with Lakshmi to learn more about her creativity and passion for sketching!

#DesignerSpotlight – Indian Fusion with Pooja Fashion Trends

Pooja Trends Social and Style 42

// Outfit by Pooja’s Fashion Trends//

Over the weekend, we went to one of our favorite wineries, Paradise Ridge, and the Zakhir Hussian concert in San Jose. Since I wanted to wear something that would be appropriate for both events, I picked this gorgeous custom fusion outfit from Pooja Fashion Trends for the evening. So many of you loved Pooja Fashion Trends Anarkali I wore a few months ago and asked to see more designs! What I love about Pooja Fashion Trends is that the designer and founder, Pooja, can create unique one of a kind outfits from designs you provide. For instance, I saw this statement Nikhil Thampi outfit on Shilpa Shetty and shared the photo with Pooja on WhatsApp. From there, Pooja helped me select the color and how to best design the outfit to fit my body type. The outfit arrived in a few weeks and is now one of my favorites! Thanks to Pooja’s creativity, I can wear the fusion dress / tunic for both Indian and American wedding this summer.

#DesignerSpotlight – Treasures in Vogue x Pooja’s Fashion Trends

Social and Style x Pooja Trends x Treasures in Vogue 2

// Earrings by Treasures in Vogue and outfit by Pooja’s Fashion Trends//

As I get ready for my wedding, I am finishing up my trousseau shopping. In Indian tradition, the new bride goes to her new home with a new set of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. as way of welcoming the new phase of her life. While I did most of my Indian clothes shopping in India, there were still a few items I was looking for. When it comes to jewelry, I have a lot of traditional Indian jewelry. For my new collection, I wanted to incorporate a few modern pieces that can be worn with Indian and Western outfits. Of course, I turned to Manisha from Treasures in Vogue to find the perfect earrings. If you read our WhatsApp conversations, you can see that I tend to go back to my chandbali statement earring styles. Thankfully, Manisha suggested I try different designs and colors from what I typically select. The Champagne  earnings were everything. I already wore them with my Marchesa Notte dress for Valentine’s Day and then decided to wear the earrings for my friend’s Mendhi. Manisha also introduced me to Pooja from Pooja’s Fashion Trends to find outfits for my trousseau. I love the different styles and designs Pooja’s Fashion Trends carries. For my friend’s Mendhi, I picked this vibrant magenta Anarkali. I love that the outfit can be worn as a maxi dress or with the gold jacket overlay. I will definitely be shopping with Treasures in Vogue and Pooja’s Fashion Trends for my wedding outfits! For those of you wondering, both companies are located in the NJ/NY area – check out their sites for more information.
