Hi…I’m Back!

I want to start this post by saying I’m back and I missed you! Sometimes, you need to take a break from blogging and focus on what matters most in your life. More on that in upcoming posts… While I never expected the break to be this long, I am thankful that I took time to reflect, mature, and be thankful for what I have in life. As you may remember from previous posts, the move to Singapore went smoothly and I am proud of myself for adapting to my new home so quickly. Soon after the New Year, I went back to the US to meet my new baby niece. It was then that I realized I needed to pause and be more present in my life. Blogging had started to become a main priority rather than a creative outlet that I loved. Thank you for all your messages and patience during this time.  So many of you wrote to me checking to see if I was ok and that meant so much. Now that I feel rested, I am full of ideas to write about! While I was away, I learned I loved fuss-free healthy cooking, read a ton of books (I can’t wait to share with you), and most important – I want to get back to writing about topics that inspire readers. Relaunching the #PowerWomen series is something I am excited about, along with lots of travel posts (next up our trip to Bali)!

2017 Let’s Do It! As we head into the New Year, I’m getting ready for an amazing 2017. While I shy away from resolutions, I decide on 3-5 goals to focus my thoughts and decisions for the year ahead. I typically spend the days before New Year’s Eve relaxing and spending time with loved ones. This helps me to clear my head and allow myself to think about my priorities, goals, and passion. During this time, I also reflect on the direction and purpose of Social and Style. Blogging is a part of my life that takes time and energy. I want to make sure I am using my time and energy wisely. When I started Social and Style, my vision for the blog was to be a platform to inspire readers. From the #PowerWomen series to supporting local businesses, my goal for Social and Style is to uplift others. In Singapore, I am learning more about the startup scene and local small businesses. Each founder I meet, always inspires me with their story and journey. I look forward to introducing you to these entrepreneurs in a new series #SingaporeSpotlight, starting with Manisha Gattani founder of Linen & More!

The Perfect Holiday Gift: Stylish And Functional

Gift giving is one of my favorite things to do. I love picking out the perfect present for my family, friends and loved ones. While some people stick to gift cards, I like to find something that the person will use, enjoy and remember. Personally, some of the best gifts I have received are presents that I use every day. For instance, my friend gave me a personalized mug for my grad school graduation that I use every day. Each morning, as I sip my morning chai, I remember my friend and her thoughtfulness. This holiday season, my blogger friends and I decided to have a holiday brunch at Raffles Hotel. To add to the fun, we had a Secret Santa. Since my Secret Santa gift was for a smart, talented, fashionista – my first thought was something fashion related! Since moving to Singapore, my favorite fashion accessory has been my sunglasses. With sunshine in SG, I never leave home without my sunnies! After a lot of thought, I decided sunglasses would be the perfect gift for my blogger bestie. Since sunglasses can be quite personal, I headed to Spectacle Hut to find the perfect pair!

Celebrating One Month In Singapore!

Nin9 Studios Social and Style

Today is our one month anniversary in Singapore! The wonderful friends we have made in SG have made Singapore feel like home. So many people have welcomed us with open arms and gone out of their way to help us settle in. For me, blogging has been a great way to meet like minded creative people and entrepreneurs. I feel blessed to have connected with one of the most talented photographers and makeup artists I have ever worked with, Vinod and Hetal from Nin9 Studios and Makeup and Hair artist – Gayathri Menon. When I mentioned to them my one month in Singapore was coming up, we decided to celebrate! We came up with the idea to do a photo shoot at the iconic National Gallery of Singapore. Thanks to Rent A Dress SG, I was able to find the perfect Badgley Mischka dress for the occasion. Since my Instagram and Snap fam helped me pick this dress, I wanted to say thank you by sharing a 15% off code ‘SOCIALANDSTYLE15’ for any purchases from Rent A Dress SG over $50. I will always remember this celebration and wanted to share more about my dream team!

My Sister’s Garden Themed Baby Shower

Garden Themed Baby Shower Dresses

Next month, I will be a Masi 2x! Being a Masi (Aunt) is such an amazing feeling and a role I treasure deeply. My nephew Shaan has brought so much joy into our lives and we can’t wait for Shaan’s little sister to arrive. To celebrate, we held a Garden Themed Baby Shower for my sister. Since I was moving to Singapore the following week, my Mom and I planned the baby shower over the phone and got all the decorations three days before the celebration! Thankfully we had a lot of support from our family and friends. From my best friend Ashima, who designed the beautiful cake, to my friends who helped with all the clean up – the shower was perfect. My sister does so much for our family and is always there to support me. We were so excited to shower her with love and celebrate!  Here’s how we planned the shower and my favorite memories!
