My Maternity Fitness Routine

Top, Sports Bra, Leggings  c/o – BASE Athletica (promo code below!)

Since sharing my pregnancy news, so many of you have asked me to share my maternity fitness routine! On Instastories, I often share my fitness photos and I always get asked about what I actually do. For me, fitness has been a constant in my life for the past 16 years since my freshman year in college (wow that’s so long ago!). One thing that has really surprised me is how many misconceptions there are about working out during pregnancy. Many people have even written to me saying to take it easy and that I shouldn’t be working out at all. I always strive to put my baby’s health first and discuss my fitness routine with my OB during each visit. So far, I’ve been cleared to workout as much as my body feels comfortable. My OB always tells me to listen to my body first and foremost. Now that I am in my 7.5 month, I workout 1-2 times a week since I get pretty tired from my day job and my hands and feet are so swollen! I am excited to share my pregnancy fitness routine with you trimester by trimester. Always remember, each person’s pregnancy and fitness journey is unique – do what feels best for you. And always consult your doctor before trying any exercise – especially if you are expecting.  Thank you BASE Athletica for sending me this outfit (non maternity sized up!). Enter code ‘FITSOCIAL’ at checkout to get 20% off all ONZIE and DHARMA BUMS brands until 23 July. Would love to hear about your maternity fitness tips in the comments section below!

Why Changing Up Your Workout Is the Best Thing You Can Do Today!

guavapass-bootcamp-fort-canning-4

I am loving the fitness community in Singapore! Everyone is so friendly and there are so many different types of fitness studios to try. As you know, I am a BIG fan of HIIT bootcamp classes. Before I moved, I was taking 4-5 HIIT classes a week for the last six months. That rush of adrenalin always kept me coming back. After about the fifth month, I started noticing that both my mind and body were reaching a plateau. While I was working hard, I wasn’t seeing results and my body felt fatigued. When I moved to Singapore, I decided I needed to switch things up. I turned to GuavaPass to invigorate my workout routine. With GuavaPass, I am able to take premier fitness classes in Singapore with their partner studios. So far I have tried outdoor bootcamp, music flow yoga, and pilates. By changing up my workout routine, I feel stronger and more energized. While I still love my bootcamp classes, I also enjoy yoga, Pilates, and discovering new workouts that bring me joy. I just signed up for a ninja warrior workout at Bounce – I’ll keep you posted!

guava-pass-singapore-0

Moving to a new country isn’t easy. Simple things like grocery shopping, taking the train, and finding fitness classes can seem daunting. As I adjust to our life in Singapore, I’m getting into a rhythm and finding our new normal. I’ve decided to treat this time as an adventure to learn more about my new home! Discovering different parts of town and meeting new people, make exploring even more fun. For me, GuavaPass has become a welcoming friend in our new home. GuavaPass is a community of fitness studios and healthy-living experts in Singapore, and across South East Asia and the Middle East. With GuavaPass, you get access to a wide range of studio classes and instructors for a monthly subscription fee. Thanks to GuavaPass, I have been able to explore Singapore by taking classes in different parts of town. The easy to use site and app make finding classes simple. You search by neighborhood and type of class you are looking for. So far, I’ve taken outdoor bootcamp at Fort Canning, pilates in Dhoby Ghaut, and power yoga in the CBD! I’m also loving the classes at GuavaLabs on Orchard Road at the Mandarin Gallery, taught by GuavaPass partner studios. One of the best things about GuavaPass is that you can meet people who have similar interests. The people I met through GuavaPass have been so friendly and welcoming! Here are a few more reasons why I’m loving GuavaPass.

Hi From Singapore!

topshop-midi-skirt-x-nordstrom-64

Hi from Singapore! We moved on Sunday and so far the transition has been wonderful. I feel so blessed for all your support and love. Moving isn’t easy but thankfully Singapore already feels like home. While I miss my family and friends in DC and Santa Rosa (Sonoma) so much, the move to East Asia has been smooth so far. Currently, we are living in a service apartment on Orchard Road, right in the heart of shopping district! Besides shopping, there is a lot to do within walking distance and all the other neighborhoods are a short MRT (subway) ride away! I’ve already tried bootcamp, kickboxing, cafes and of course exploring Little India. The welcome to Singapore has been so heart felt and fellow bloggers and entrepreneurs have welcomed me with open arms. Today I had a lovely lunch with Richa from Urban Mantra and tomorrow I am attending a trunk show with designers Pankaj and Nidhi. While I was in Maryland before the move, I couldn’t wait to try Fall’s hottest trend  – velvet. As you all know, I’m obsessed with midi skirts and fell in love with this one from TopShop. At first, I couldn’t find a top that worked well with the skirt in my closet. Rather than buy something new, I wore the skirt over an off shoulder dress from H&M and was just $20! I’ll be sharing more of my outfits from my trip to Maryland over the next few weeks on the blog (It’s def not sweater season here in SG). I can’t wait to share more of Singapore with you as I get settled into our new home. Love you all!
