#MadeInDC – Dinner with scratchDC

Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. I love deciding what to cook, putting together a menu, and preparing the dishes. With work, family, friends, and blogging, I often find myself short on time to prepare each meal from scratch. While I prefer home cooked food to eating out or prepackaged food, lately I’ve found myself cooking less. Thankfully the team from scratchDC has made cooking easy! Whether you are cooking for one or two (hello date night!), you can select your dinner box, customize to your dietary needs, and have the package delivered by the time you get home from work. The fresh pre-measured ingredients, easy to follow instructions, and delicious taste has got me hooked! If you live in DC, you will receive $5 off your dinner kit for two ($22-28) with code Social and Style! Checkout my review below.

Korean BBQ Taco Night – Dinner with scratchDC

Review: scratchDC creates fresh dinner kits daily that come chopped, measured, marinated and are delivered ready to cook. To start – I check out their menu, which changes weekly, and decide which delivery option works best. I ordered Korean Tacos with the tofu option for protein. The marinated tofu was delicious and all the fixings really complemented each other. The instructions were easy to follow and in less than 20 minutes – I had a restaurant-quality meal for two that I prepared myself! Below are a few highlights of my experience with scratchDC:

  • Convenience: scratchDC has made food delivery super convenient with a variety of delivery times and drop off options. You receive a text message when the food is on its way  and when the package has been dropped off.
  • Preparation made easy: Sometimes I can spend hours on Pinterest finding a recipe. Then when I am ready to cook after a long day at work, I realize I forgot to buy a key ingredient. With the instructions and all the ingredients pre measured, scratchDC takes the guess work out of cooking.
  •  Home cooking: With scratchDC you can enjoy cooking a home cooked meal in about 20 minutes. They tell you where all your ingredients are from and you can let them know about any food allergies / preferences to customize your dinner kit experience.

Areas that could be improved: Given how fresh and yummy the main course was, I kind of wish sides were included in the kit. The kit did come with two cookies to bake which were a tasty treat! You can add sides as extras for $5-$10 – they look so good I will have to order them with my next meal!

Review: 4.5/5 stars!

  1. I’ve been curious about these types of services before, but it looks like you had an awesome experience! I was worried that having everything pre-done would take the fun out of cooking, but this could be great for a busy weeknight!
