If you follow me on Instagram and Instastories, you may have noticed a few changes in my life lately that have a lot to do with fashion! At the start of my third trimester, I joined Covetella – Singapore’s #1 Fashion Rental Destination. As you know, I typically don’t talk much about my professional life on the blog, but so many of you have been asking about my new job! So I thought I would share a little more about my new role and how it all happened!

When I found out we were moving to Singapore, I made a major (I mean major) career decision and decided to leave the management consulting firm I had been working with since college (12 years!). I felt it was the right time to make a change. Moving to Singapore in November, I soon realized that most of the corporate hiring was on pause till after the holidays, which also meant till Chinese New Year (at the end of January). I began building my network in Singapore and exploring companies I was passionate about. Given I have always loved everything entrepreneurial, I also explored starting my own business and the start up scene in SG.

When we found out I was expecting on Christmas Day, I felt so thankful and blessed.  I believe at the right time the right things happen so I kept going with the career search, interviewing, networking, etc. While many people told me the hiring practices in Asia are very different from the US – especially when it comes to pregnancy –  I didn’t let that stop me. Interviewing in my first and second trimester had its (many) challenges  but I kept trying. There were a lot of ups and downs during this time that really tested my faith.

In my heart, I knew the right career was out there for me and I was determined to find it. Staying focused and diligent helped keep me going during the tough times. My family and friends tell me my greatest strength is persistence – when I put my mind to something I do everything in my power to make it happen and leave the rest to God.

By chance, I met the founder of Covetella at a friend’s birthday brunch and things fell into place from there. The baby’s health is my top priority along with balancing family and career needs. For me, staying active, working towards something I love, and following my passion keeps my mind and body healthy. Of course with the pregnancy, I get tired a lot quicker and have to pace myself – but I am truly thankful for all that has happened in the last few weeks. I never thought I would join a startup at the start of my third trimester but trust – at the right time, the right things happen!

Now for the fun stuff!  As a part of my role at Covetella, I have to  attend events, represent our brand, and be active in Singapore’s startup / social scene. That means wearing dresses and accessories from Covetella’s infinite dream closet! What I love most about Covetella is that there are options for all women of shapes and sizes. I’ve had no problem finding larger sizes to fit my growing bump! Also – the selection at Covetella is truly unparalleled from top designers (e.g., Zac Posen, Marchesa, Gucci, Prada, YSL) to independent local designers. Here are a few of my favorite outfits from Covetella so far!

  1. I actually read about Covetella on an entrepreneurial portal. It’s amazing to find a job that combines your profession and hobby. I am happy for you. Movings are never easy. Love all these outfits. My favorite is the last white pleated dress
