#ProductReview – Rouge Louboutin

I have to start my first product review by saying I never would have thought I would buy a $50 nail polish. I say this for a lot of reasons, the first being my nails. I’ve been a nail biter all my life. I’ve never grown my nails and don’t really like painting them. My family and friends would look at my hands and say, “grow your nails!” – all the time. A month ago, I began growing my nails and finally have long nails. To celebrate this success, I bought Christian Louboutin’s new Rouge nail polish. This is a huge splurge for me since I own about three bottles of nail polish.

“Doesn’t chip, lasts for weeks, love the design”, after reading the reviews for Louboutin’s new line of nail polishes, I wanted to try it. Rouge Louboutin nail polish is the hottest luxury product to launch this summer and sold out at most places like Sephora and Saks. When the nail polish arrived over the weekend, I couldn’t wait to try it and write my first product review!

Product:  Rouge Louboutin (nail polish)

  • Description: The design is inspired by the tallest heel Christian Louboutin ever created – the Ballerina Ultima. The spike like cap is inspired by calligraphy and turns applying nail polish into a luxurious experience. The chip-resistant formula is highly pigmented and goes on super glossy with just one coat.
  • Price: $50 USD
  • Packaging: The glass bottle is enclosed with a box similar to the one Louboutin’s famous red soles come in.
  • Available at: Nordstroms, Sephora, Saks 5th Avenue, ChristianLouboutin.com
  • My review: B+

Review Highlights

  • Preface: I should preface this review by saying I doubt I’m the target audience for this product. Rouge Louboutin is for women who love to indulge in the timeless experience of painting their nails. Personally, I like to paint my nails as quickly as possible with fuss-free drug store brands like Rimmel.
  •  What I liked best: The actual nail polish. The high quality lacquer goes on with one coat. The polish dried instantly and lasted a week without chipping!
  •  What I liked least: Functionality of the design. The cap is very long and heavy, so heavy that I had trouble painting my nails smoothly with one coat. I then had to put on two coats, which made the polish look thick and a bit matte rather than glossy.
  •  Recommendation: This is a must-have product if you love high quality nail polish and bold aesthetics. Rouge Louboutin also makes for a great birthday, bridal shower, or holiday gift. Skip this product if you are like me and look for simple, budget friendly, easy to apply nail polish.

  • Heavy cap makes applying the nail polish a bit tricky
