So many of you asked about the dress I wore for my maternity shoot. When I posted the dress on Instastories, I’ve received lots of messages asking about the brand, details, and how you can get your own! I am excited to share my experience with Sue Mue. I first heard about Sue Mue a few years ago through Instagram. From the photos, I could tell the Design House was unique in their embroidery, silhouettes, and styles. What I love about Sue Mue is that they are so on trend (hello bell sleeves!) yet maintain a beautiful Indian aesthetic throughout their designs. When I decided to have my maternity shoot, I knew Sue Mue would have the perfect dress for me. I worked with Mahima and team to select a be-spoke dress from their PRET collection. Sue Mue kindly suggested to change the color of the dress from blush pink to baby blue. Next I sent over my measurements so the dress would fit just right. When I received the garment, I was so pleased! The outfit fit great and the color was the perfect shade of blue. What I loved most were the details. The yellow birds and flowers adorning the front melted my heart. Also loved that the bell sleeves gave the look a romantic yet contemporary feel. When it comes to maternity shoots, I love flowy dresses that are comfortable for you and your bump! I’m so excited that Sue Mue is exhibiting with the The Boutique in Singapore on the 7th of September at the Holiday Inn Orchard. The dress I wore will also be exhibited in the original color! Find out more about Sue Mue below!

#DesignerSpotlight – Janam Maternity Saris & Beyond!

Maternity Sari c/o Janam Maternity

4 more weeks to go! It’s hard to believe that I am 36 weeks pregnant and full term – meaning Baby B could arrive anytime. With each day, I feel more prepared for the little one’s arrival. With the kicks becoming stronger, I have a feeling Baby B is excited to meet us too! As I enter the home stretch, it’s amazing to think about how much my mind, body, and life has changed. In the last few weeks, I feel pretty fatigued (all the time) and my hands, feet, and face are constantly swollen. Accepting these changes and not trying to push myself has helped me understand what’s important and how to prioritize. These days it’s all about comfort. I focus on how to feel calm and comfortable in my everyday life. When I connected with Parul, founder of Janam Maternity, her passion for creating comfortable and stylish South Asian maternity fashion resonated with me. I couldn’t wait to try the maternity sari for myself. As you know, I love Indian fashion but that has taken a back seat during pregnancy since most of my outfits didn’t fit or were too uncomfortable to wear. Janam Maternity has changed all that with the genius patent-pending Maternity Sari! The Maternity Sari is different from normal saris in many ways. First, the sari comes pre-pleated which alone is such a brilliant idea since I have so much trouble tying my own sari. Most important, the Maternity Sari comes with an expandable belly band to be worn around or below the belly. The sari took me less than 5 minutes to put on and I felt so at ease. Janam Maternity also makes Maternity Saris that cover the entire belly and nursing sari blouses! I chatted with Parul, a lawyer turned fashion entrepreneur  to learn more about the inspiration behind Janam Maternity!

How to pick Indian Jewelry that you can actually wear again!

Earrings c/o Sangeeta’s Bazaar

If you followed this blog for a while, you know I love Indian fashion and accessories! Sometimes I think back to when I was a child who refused to wear her Indian clothes in public. I remember one time when I was 10 and my mom wanted to go grocery shopping after a morning puja at our Temple. I refused to enter the store in my salwar kameez. My mom, being the strong mom that she is, would not let me say in the car alone. I finally agreed but only after I put on a jacket – in 90 degree heat! Since then, I’ve come a long way in accepting and embracing my Indian culture. It wasn’t easy but finding a South Asian American community in college that I could connect with helped. Now I love everything Indian from movies to fashion. When I first started blogging, I was into to the latest trends in South Asian fashion and designer wear. While I still am interested in trends and designer wear, I prefer outfits and accessories that will last more than a season. That is why I love finding jewelry that is classic yet contemporary. When I met Sangeeta, founder of Sangeeta’s Bazaar on Instagram, I loved her designs. I  teamed up with Sangeeta to put together our tips on how to pick Indian jewelry that you can actually wear again!

Earrings c/o: Sangeeta’s Bazaar

Now that I’m in my 23rd week, I am feeling great. I hear I’m in the honeymoon period of pregnancy and it definitely feels like it! I feel healthy and strong and that’s what matters most. As you know from previous posts, I had a great transition to Singapore and felt truly welcomed by all the people I met. Over the last few months, I was way less social in person and on social media. I realized what I missed most was connecting to people. I am such a social and talkative person by nature and I love sharing what motivates and inspires me. I’m excited to start a new series on the blog where I talk about my favorite finds from fitness to fashion!
