Now that I’m in my 23rd week, I am feeling great. I hear I’m in the honeymoon period of pregnancy and it definitely feels like it! I feel healthy and strong and that’s what matters most. As you know from previous posts, I had a great transition to Singapore and felt truly welcomed by all the people I met. Over the last few months, I was way less social in person and on social media. I realized what I missed most was connecting to people. I am such a social and talkative person by nature and I love sharing what motivates and inspires me. I’m excited to start a new series on the blog where I talk about my favorite finds from fitness to fashion!

A Beginners Guide to Daring to Dream with ReeMat Designs

ReeMat Designs x Social and Style part 39

// Weave Collar – ReeMat Designs//

Daring to dream. When I close my eyes and take a moment to be present, I can feel my dreams inside me. As I inhale, the dreams get bigger and I feel them expanding, becoming larger than life.  When I open my eyes, poof. The dreams quickly go back inside. Finally, I am taking the time to ask myself why. Why is it that I can feel my dreams so deeply, yet in the ‘real world’ they seem to disappear. With the business of life, these feelings get muted by daily tasks, to-do lists, errands, and social media. What I know for sure is that we all have a calling – a purpose. For me, the calling is clear yet seems so distant. During my two years of blogging, I’ve hinted at my calling by profiling South Asian female entrepreneurs like Reena Mathur (founder of  ReeMat Designs). Yet, I’ve never had the courage to share my dream – until today. Honestly, it’s not easy – daring to dream. It’s easier to think that a) the life I have now is fine b) my dream can’t happen because (insert excuse here), c) I don’t have what it takes / it’s to hard. When I see others achieving success, I get inspired for a few moments and then start comparing myself. I am finally taking a stand and learning to channel my energy into something more productive. That starts with putting my dreams out there. Deep breath – here I go. My dream is to start my own business that helps the lives of others. Exhale. It feels good to release what I’ve had stored in for so long!

Introducing ReeMat Designs – statement Jewelry with a fusion twist!

ReeMat Designs x Social and Style 101

// Statement Jewelry by ReeMat Designs //

Can you believe Fall is right around the corner?! Here in Sonoma, the weather is getting crisper, the grapes are almost ripe, and I’m getting ready for the changing season. On the blog front, I ready for the next leap. While I’m thankful that I have grown and developed Social and Style – I want Social and Style to be THE leading destination for South Asian lifestyle. Normally, I don’t share my goals and dreams – but I’m learning if you want to make it happen you have to believe it and share it. One exciting project I am working on is developing a YouTube channel. Going on camera is not easy and I’m not sure how the videos will turn out – but I’m ready to give it a try. Can’t wait to share my first video in September!

Almost every week, I get messages from readers asking for advice on how to follow their passion, launch a start up, or grow a business. As you know from the #PowerWomen’s series, I am always inspired by women who make that leap and follow their dreams. One of these women is Reena Mathur, founder of ReeMat Designs. Meeting Reena in person, you can feel her energy and determination. A Stanford trained Civil Engineer turned entrepreneur, Reena’s journey and designs already have a huge fan following. I teamed up with Reena to style several pieces from her Fall collection. Stay tuned all week for our collaboration!

Social and Style Treasures in Vogue Chandbalis 2

//Chandbalis from Treasures in Vogue //

Holiday season is here! I am loving all the holiday dinners and get togethers. Over the weekend, I went to a holiday themed high tea and had a blast catching up with old friends. As you may have noticed, I am loving the cape trend and wore a white cape dress from Asos. Since it’s the holidays, I am bringing out my Indian jewelry to add a bit of sparkle to my outfits. I paired the dress with the Chandbalis I wore over Thanksgiving break from Treasures in Vogue! It’s been awesome to collaborate with Treasures in Vogue. I am excited that December will be a month for baubles. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement on December 15th!

Treasures in Vogue Social and Style Collaboration 6090

//Necklace Treasures in Vogue //

I’m so glad you are loving the collaboration with Treasures in Vogue as much as I do! So many of you asked to see how I styled this peach and gold statement necklace for the Bollywood-themed birthday bash I attended last Saturday. I decided to channel old Bollywood glam by pairing the necklace with an anarkali and adding soft curls. Since I was transitioning from brunch to the birthday celebration, I added simple rose gold studs to keep the focus on the necklace. To change up the look, I twisted the peach strands of the necklace to give the anarkali a more sophisticated look. Good thing all these events and outfit changes are getting me prepared for my wedding day :)
