One of my favorite aspects of blogging is meeting creative and inspiring people. At the start of the year, I started noticing illustrations by LS Art & Illustration on Instagram. Lakshmi, founder of LS Art & Illustration, and I both share a passion for the arts, fashion, and South Asian culture. We soon connected and started chatting about ideas for a collaboration. I loved seeing  Lakshmi’s sketching of South Asian designers and muses. We soon agree that sketching one of my bridal looks would be the perfect way for Lakshmi to showcase her talent and share her sketches with readers. I love how she captured the design and flow of my sangeet outfit so vividly.  I also can’t wait to do a live sketching session when I back on the East Coast. I chatted with Lakshmi to learn more about her creativity and passion for sketching!

#WeddingSeries – Indian Inspired Wedding Cards by Made by Badal

// Cards by Made By Badal //

As you probably guessed by now, I loved the idea of cute, customized props for our wedding. From chalk boards to welcome signs, I had so much fun coming up with ideas and bringing them to life. One of the intentions Shiv and I set for our wedding was to have fun and make each event a celebration. It’s easy to get stressed out, take things too seriously, and get bogged down in the details during your wedding. Instead, we made a schedule and ideas that worked for us. Given my husband was laid back when it came to planning, I was able to indulge in my creatively quirky side. While some (ok most) ideas were a bit far fetched, the ideas we did decide on turned out so fun! For example, our photographer planned a first look shoot before our ceremony. We wanted the photos to be more casual and fun and not be too posed. We decided to write each other messages and exchange our cards at our first look.  We found fun Indian-inspired cards by Made By Badal. On Badal’s Etsy site, there are a wide variety of cards for us to pick from. My favorites are the Bridesmaids card, festival cards, and of course “Your Are My Favorite Ladoo”. Badal also designs items such as henna inspired table numbers, which we used during our reception!

Our intention for our reception was simple: have a blast! Let’s be honest, wedding planning can be stressful. Our reception was the perfect way to enjoy all the months of planning and spend time with our family and friends. We kept the program (speeches, performances, etc.) to a minimum and let our dance floor be the focus! With a laid back vibe, our reception was full of fun and one big party! Here a few highlights!

Wedding Series – #KandSKnotItUp Ceremony

Photographick Studios | www.photographick.com | 571-449-7468

Every bride has vision for their wedding day and I knew I wanted mine to be elegant, traditional, and fun! When picturing my wedding, I always knew I wanted an outdoor ceremony. We selected the Westfields Marriott for its beautiful terrace and colonial look and feel. While we knew there could be a chance of rain, we decided to hope for the best. In wedding planning and in life, I’ve learned that not everything happens exactly how you wish. You have to trust that whatever happens – happens for the best. Including rain on the morning of our wedding. Thankfully our friends and family were amazing and still danced in our Baraat (a groom’s outdoor wedding procession)! Our wedding planner Sagina saved the day by making sure our wedding ceremony was still as beautiful as we envisioned. Here a few of our favorite highlights!

Wedding in Wine Country – Mahari Collection x Shillpa Purii Designer Jewellery

Mahari Collection X Shillpa Purii Designer Jewellery X Social and Style 100

//Cape – Mahari Collection, Earrings – Shillpa Purii Designer Jewellery//

Over the holiday weekend, we attended a lovely wedding at DeLoach Winery in Sonoma. The beauty of the location complimented the elegant rustic decor. When deciding what to wear, I was excited to finally wear my Mahari Collection must-have summer wedding trend high-low cape! As you likely have seen all over Instagram, capes are super hot right now in Indian fashion. I really love how this high-low cape added oomph to my pencil dress from Asos. The high-low look creates a slimming effect while the cape adds a touch of elegance. Although the weather is amazing here in Sonoma, it does get pretty chilly at night. The cape was the perfect complement to wear for both a sizzling summer day and cool summer evening.  To complete the look, I styled the cape with statement double chandbali earrings from Shillpa Purii Designer  Jewellery. Mumbai based designers Shillpa and Sakshi create beautiful designs to fit every occasion. Sometimes I am weary of ordering items from India, but I was pleasantly surprised by the service and delivery. I selected the earrings on Saturday by chatting directly with Shillpa on WhatsApp and they arrived in just two days! I can’t wait to style their statement kundan studs next! I also have the high-low cape in mind to wear with a pair of skinny jeans and a crop top. Can’t wait to share both looks soon!
