New Mom Energy Boosts!

// Robe c/o Pajama Sutra //

As a new mom – the one thing I need is more energy! Baby Aadhav gets up early (5-6 am!) and from then on my day is filled with playtime, laundry, pumping, food prep, cleaning, walks, hugs, and finally bedtime. After Aadhav goes to sleep, I have dinner with the hubs, catch up with family and friends back home in the States, work on the blog, and knock things off my to-do list. By the end of my day, I am ready for sleep! In the New Year, I’ve started focusing on my energy and how I spend my time. I noticed a few things that have really helped give my energy a boost! I’m sharing my tips for more energy and would love to hear your suggestions in the comments below!

Life Lately v1.18 – 21 Days of Gratitude and Meditation – Let’s Do This!

Recently on Instagram Stories I shared that I am starting 21 Days of Meditation and Gratitude. I asked if anyone would like to join me and so many of you responded “Yes”! Your messages and motivation are so encouraging. I hope to make meditation and gratitude a regular practice this year and can’t wait to do this together. Over the years, I’ve had an on and off relationship with meditation. I always feel so much more at peace and calm when I meditate, but found it tough to meditate regularly with work, school, and family commitments. This year, I’m adding gratitude to my meditation practice and hope to continue throughout the year! I start by writing down one thing I am thankful for each day and then meditate for 10 minutes usually before I go to sleep. Do you use Apps or journals to help with meditation and gratitude?  Would love to hear your tips / Apps to help make our meditation and gratitude practice stick!

Tips for a Social Media Refresh

Photo credit – Nin9 Studios

One of my 2018 Resolutions is to be more present and use my phone more wisely. As a blogger, social media is a big part of my life, It’s how I connect with readers, share content, and grow the blog. Thanks to social media, I have met some of my closet friends and found my passion for creating content. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube have changed the way we live, connect, and share. There is so much good coming out of these platforms, but it’s easy to get carried away using your phone too much, comparing our selves to others, and generally spending too much time on social media. When I turned 30, it felt like everyone around me was getting married, having children, and updates on social media often felt like reminders that I was missing out. Even though I was doing well in my career and enjoying my life with family, friends, volunteering, etc., it started to feel like I was getting left behind. That’s when I decided to take charge of how I was using my phone and social media. Since then, I do a “social media refresh” each year to make sure I am using my phone and social media in a way that enriches my life. I’m sharing my tips for a Social Media Refresh on the blog today!

2018 OUR Year

Wearing KiranXPawana

2018 is OUR Year! Before every New Year, I make a list of goals I want to accomplish. Previous goals have been to reach a new level in my career, start a non-profit, get my masters degree, and my favorite goal – get married! Over the years I’ve learned that sometimes I became too focused on the goal and forgot to enjoy the experiences along the way. I also learned that really specific goals can sometimes make my vision too narrow and left little room for serendipity. Everyone always says to set measurable goals but sometimes my goals are more about energy and emotions. The most important thing I’ve learned over the years is to not make my goals all about myself. When I set goals with the intention to help others or contribute to my family, friends, and community – those goals almost naturally manifest because my intention is aligned with my energy. That is why I am making 2018 OUR year. I’ve never wanted Social and Style to be about me. I started Social and Style with the intent to inspire women and create a platform for female entrepreneurs and small businesses. With social media, blogging often feels like it’s a me, me, me game. Where people only share the highlights of their lives. I don’t want to be that way. I want to be a voice not an echo. I’m here today, 3 years later, still blogging because of your support. This year, I want to create content that YOU want to see. I want to challenge myself to share more real life stories and use the platforms I have access to (YouTube, Instagram, Podcasts, etc. ) to deliver content in an original and meaningful way. I’m sharing how I prepare my goals with you. I hope I can help in some way to make your 2018 the best year of your life. I would love to hear suggestions on what you want on this space in the comments below!
