Our Bedtime

Before Baby Aadhav, bedtime was “me” time. I used to love sitting with a cup of lemon infused hot water, while taking time to unwind and reflect after a busy day. Now bedtime is all Baby Aadhav time! And I love every moment of our laughs, cuddles, and fussy cries. In the evenings, Shiv and I make it a point to spend time with Baby Aadhav together. From what I hear, most babies go to bed around 7 pm. Not our little one! I give Aadhav a bath around 7 pm and from then till about 10:30pm he is wide awake (with a 15 min nap somewhere during that time). After 9 pm, Aadhav is super excited and very talkative. We usually FaceTime with the family and then try to have Aadhav start going to bed. We read our good night books, which Aadhav loves. After reading Aadhav starts to feel sleepy (finally!). I end the night with a DreamFeed and then Aadhav usually falls into a deep sleep. Sometimes he wakes up at 3 am for the next feed, other times he sleeps till about 5-6 am. I’m sharing our bedtime must haves with you. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions on my Diaper Bag Must-Haves post!

#RealTalk – Post Pregnancy Fitness

Leggings & Sports Bra c/o Annee Matthew

This post is probably one of the most real updates I have written in a while. Since giving birth, I cannot tell you how many people have commented on my appearance. The first few days after I came home from the hospital, the comments ranged from how tired I looked to the security guard in our building asking me when is the baby due. I politely told him the baby is already here – and he just stared at my stomach with a confused look. Honestly, I have stared at myself with that same look for weeks now! Baby Aadhav is almost 3 months old and I have started my postnatal fitness journey. This truly is a journey. While it may look on Instagram that I have “bounced back”, I can assure that is not the case. Honestly, I’ve been shocked at how difficult it is to get back to working out. There are so many challenges from finding time to actually workout to learning my stamina is about 10% of what it used to be. These past few months, my focus has been on making sure Baby Aadhav is healthy and happy. While that seems like a normal thing, breast feeding and pumping run my life. I’m still about 17 pounds over my normal weight. Almost none of my pre-baby clothes fit and with a baby, there isn’t a budget for a whole new wardrobe. While I am trying to eat healthy, I also have to be careful that I have enough calories to feed my growing boy. Now the new normal is to workout, even if it’s a quick 5 minute walk or 30 min YouTube video. I also try to eat healthy but eat a lot more calories since I am eating for two.  The main area I am trying to tone up is my abs. I have a lot of extra fat around there that I hope will go down by continuing to breastfeed, workout when I can, and eat a diet healthy for a nursing mom. I’ll be sharing more of my journey, workouts, and meal plans with you on the blog – stay tuned!

Baby Style with ZeeZeeZoo

Personalized Onesie c/o ZeeZeeZoo

Vanakkam and Sat Sri Akal my name is Aadhav- I am 2 months old! For his 2 month birthday, I wanted to celebrate our 2-States Baby. My family is from the state of Punjab (Bruaaah!) in India and my husband is Telugu and grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Heritage wise we are both Indian, but culturally we have our own language, festivals, and cuisines. While Baby Aadhav is growing up, I want to make sure that he learns and experiences both cultures. When I was looking for ways to introduce Aadhav to our North and South Indian backgrounds, I turned to one of my favorite children’s brands  – ZeeZeeZoo. As a Masi, I found the perfect gifts for my nephew and niece thanks to ZeeZeeZoo. As a mom, I discovered I could create personalized onesies for my little one. Vanakkam and Sat Sri Akal mean “Hello” in Tamil and Punjabi. I loved designing this outfit for Aadhav’s second month birthday to celebrate his 2-States background! Also so many of you asked me about the Diwali onesie I shared on Instagram. This onesie is also from ZeeZeeZoo! I ordered the outfit a week before Diwali and it arrived just in time for Aadhav’s first Diwali. I also received the new “Baby’s First Photo Cards” to celebrate Indian festivals and milestones such as baby’s first steps.  I would love to hear how you celebrate two cultures in the comments below!

Celebrating One Month with Baby Aadhav!

Top similar // Earrings BaubleBar //

On Saturday, we celebrated Baby Aadhav’s One Month Birthday. I can’t believe it’s been a month since I held my beautiful baby for the first time. The days really do go by so fast with a little one. These last four weeks have been the most beautiful, amazing, intense time of my life. Thankfully Aadhav makes it easy for us. As we get the hang of parenting, I’ll be sharing all the ups, downs, burps, and laughter with you. As a new mom, I’m learning so much, making mistakes, and trying to be the best mom I can be. Some days are better than others, but each day fills me with joy when I see Aadhav smile, grow, and experience the world for the first time. Everyday is different and everyday I feel more confident as a mom. I’ve also learned how important it is to have a support system. Having my Mom here in Singapore is truly a blessing. I could not do it without her. While my focus and energy is with Aadhav, my mom makes sure I am eating (all my favorite foods), resting (when I can), and helping with all the chores (there’s A LOT of laundry for such a tiny baby!). Each month, I plan to share an update on Mommyhood – stay tuned!
