#SummerStyle with Arya Trinkets & Threads

Social and Style Arya of USA 60

Hope you all are having a great summer! I’ve been enjoying the California sunshine and my new home here in Sonoma. Since moving to Cali, I’ve noticed a few things about myself and fashion style. Honestly, I’ve been in a bit of a style rut these past few months. As a fashion blogger, I am always writing about trying new things and experimenting. Yet, I noticed from my Instagram feed that most of my looks have the same type of style and feel. The main reasons are that I gravitate to a lot of floral prints and coral / pink colors. After a while (and a closet full of flower prints!), I wanted to make a change.  My first experiment was styling a date night outfit.  I wanted something that was in trend, easy to wear, and different from what I normally wear – but still reflected my style philosophy. When I started Social and Style, I wanted to create a platform that reflected my values, passion, and South Asian heritage. Personally, I love adding South Asian touches to my outfits. For the date night look, I wore my favorite jeans with a tank and added a choker to give the look a bit of edge. To finish the style, I selected a gold clutch from Arya Trinkets & Threads.  After seeing Arya Trinkets & Threads on Etsy, I love how the brand derives inspiration from South Asian antique and contemporary pieces and injects their own little signature twist to it. Check out Arya Trinkets & Threads to see more of their fashion and accessories collection!

#WeddingSeries – Indian Inspired Wedding Cards by Made by Badal

Photographick Studios | www.photographick.com | 571-449-7468

// Cards by Made By Badal //

As you probably guessed by now, I loved the idea of cute, customized props for our wedding. From chalk boards to welcome signs, I had so much fun coming up with ideas and bringing them to life. One of the intentions Shiv and I set for our wedding was to have fun and make each event a celebration. It’s easy to get stressed out, take things too seriously, and get bogged down in the details during your wedding. Instead, we made a schedule and ideas that worked for us. Given my husband was laid back when it came to planning, I was able to indulge in my creatively quirky side. While some (ok most) ideas were a bit far fetched, the ideas we did decide on turned out so fun! For example, our photographer planned a first look shoot before our ceremony. We wanted the photos to be more casual and fun and not be too posed. We decided to write each other messages and exchange our cards at our first look.  We found fun Indian-inspired cards by Made By Badal. On Badal’s Etsy site, there are a wide variety of cards for us to pick from. My favorites are the Bridesmaids card, festival cards, and of course “Your Are My Favorite Ladoo”. Badal also designs items such as henna inspired table numbers, which we used during our reception!

#WeddingSeries – Newlywed Bridal Shoot with Indus Threads!

DSC_8196_1

// Sari Sabyasachi from Indus Threads //

“How’s married life?” is the first question I get from family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and almost everyone I’ve met since our wedding day.  While I usually answer with the typically “it’s great” response, I always wonder how to truly answer this question. Life as a newlywed is full of emotions. A new home, responsibilities, family, friends, location are just a few of the changes that you experience. It’s a time when you mature, grow, and find yourself like never before.  There are of course ups and downs, but through these moments you discover what marriage is truly about. This time as a newlywed is a celebration of discovery and love all at the same time. I wanted to capture this time as a newlywed and found just the right team to make it happen here in the Bay  area!

#Designer Spotlight – Pink BANOO – empowering and inspiring through fashion

Pink BANOO + Social and Style

Recently, a friend planned a picnic at one of my favorite gardens outside of DC. Given how hot and humid it can be here in June, I wanted to wear something that was light and comfortable. Luckily the team from Pink BANOO helped me select a design from their summer collection that was perfect for the event. With elegant peach and gold embroidery, the tunic had a South Asian flare without being too heavy. I can’t wait to style the tunic with pants for my next brunch or with a cape blazer for an evening cocktail party. I chatted with Masuma, founder of Pink BANOO, to learn more about the company. After learning about Pink BANOO’s mission, I feel great knowing that I am supporting a brand that also empowers girls by donating a portion of their proceeds towards helping girls education in need.

Pink BANOO supports girls education worldwide. Pink BANOO donates 10% of their net proceeds towards helping girls education through innovative campaigns such as the United Nations Foundation, Girl Up. Girl Up envisions a world where all girls, no matter where they live, have the opportunity to become educated, healthy, safe, counted and positioned to be the next generation of leaders.

Kicking off Summer with Prabral Gurung

200

With the start of summer, I can’t wait to breakout all the summer gear that has been stored away. I love all my summer clothes from maxis to tunics. Lately I have been receiving a lot of requests from readers to feature more fashion posts. I thought to start with one of my favorite designers – Prabal Gurung! I was lucky enough to score this top at a sample sale and was so excited to wear it. With the textured front and sheer back, it was the perfect shirt to wear on a Saturday afternoon in DC. Stay tuned this month for more designer spotlights, fashion posts, and of course giveaways!  Thank you so much for participating in all the giveaways last month! It was such a pleasure to read all your entries and can’t wait for the next one coming soon!
