As I get ready for my wedding, I am finishing up my trousseau shopping. In Indian tradition, the new bride goes to her new home with a new set of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc. as way of welcoming the new phase of her life. While I did most of my Indian clothes shopping in India, there were still a few items I was looking for. When it comes to jewelry, I have a lot of traditional Indian jewelry. For my new collection, I wanted to incorporate a few modern pieces that can be worn with Indian and Western outfits. Of course, I turned to Manisha from Treasures in Vogue to find the perfect earrings. If you read our WhatsApp conversations, you can see that I tend to go back to my chandbali statement earring styles. Thankfully, Manisha suggested I try different designs and colors from what I typically select. The Champagne  earnings were everything. I already wore them with my Marchesa Notte dress for Valentine’s Day and then decided to wear the earrings for my friend’s Mendhi. Manisha also introduced me to Pooja from Pooja’s Fashion Trends to find outfits for my trousseau. I love the different styles and designs Pooja’s Fashion Trends carries. For my friend’s Mendhi, I picked this vibrant magenta Anarkali. I love that the outfit can be worn as a maxi dress or with the gold jacket overlay. I will definitely be shopping with Treasures in Vogue and Pooja’s Fashion Trends for my wedding outfits! For those of you wondering, both companies are located in the NJ/NY area – check out their sites for more information.

#SharetheLove – Valentine’s Day with Whole Foods Market DC

Social and Style Whole Foods DC Collaboration 70

This Valentine’s day, I am sharing the love with Whole Foods Market DC. Whole Foods DC has 4 locations in the Nation’s Capital including Georgetown, Foggy Bottom, Tenley Town, and P Street. Walking into the Georgetown market over the weekend, I was like a kid in a candy shop with all the Valentine’s Day themed treats, baked goods, and flowers. I remember in grade school a teacher once told me, “Valentine’s Day is about sharing the love with your self and others”. I always loved Valentine’s Day parties at school where you brought treats to share with classmates. The cute hand written cards, candy, and hugs made the day so special. As I got older, I always wondered why Valentine’s Day seemed more about having a significant other than celebrating with those you love. My favorite Valentine’s Day memories include my closest friends and lots of laughter. This year, I wanted to keep up with the tradition of sharing the love. At Whole Foods, I found so many great deals. I picked 2 dozen long stemmed roses, a bottle of bubbly, and champagne macaroons to share with my bridesmaids! I took a few photos before the get together wearing earnings from Treasures in Vogue and a Marchesa Notte dress!

#IndianJewelry – East Meets West with Treasures in Vogue Part 4

Social and Style Treasures in Vogue Chandbalis 2

//Chandbalis from Treasures in Vogue //

Holiday season is here! I am loving all the holiday dinners and get togethers. Over the weekend, I went to a holiday themed high tea and had a blast catching up with old friends. As you may have noticed, I am loving the cape trend and wore a white cape dress from Asos. Since it’s the holidays, I am bringing out my Indian jewelry to add a bit of sparkle to my outfits. I paired the dress with the Chandbalis I wore over Thanksgiving break from Treasures in Vogue! It’s been awesome to collaborate with Treasures in Vogue. I am excited that December will be a month for baubles. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement on December 15th!

Treasures in Vogue Social and Style Collaboration 6090

//Necklace Treasures in Vogue //

I’m so glad you are loving the collaboration with Treasures in Vogue as much as I do! So many of you asked to see how I styled this peach and gold statement necklace for the Bollywood-themed birthday bash I attended last Saturday. I decided to channel old Bollywood glam by pairing the necklace with an anarkali and adding soft curls. Since I was transitioning from brunch to the birthday celebration, I added simple rose gold studs to keep the focus on the necklace. To change up the look, I twisted the peach strands of the necklace to give the anarkali a more sophisticated look. Good thing all these events and outfit changes are getting me prepared for my wedding day :)

Treasures in Vogue Collaboration

//Necklace by Treasures in Vogue //

After a whirlwind weekend, it’s nice to sit home on a Monday by the fireplace with a cup of white hot chocolate and a good book.  Thinking back to my Saturday, I had 3 events back to back with little time to change in between.  To keep the day as stress free as possible, I wanted to keep my accessories simple so I only had to change outfits. I turned to Treasures in Vogue to find a statement necklace that I could wear to a brunch, bollywood themed birthday bash, and dinner with girlfriends.  Since I love, coral I was drawn to this intricate gold and peach necklace that I wore with jeans, an anarkali, and a black dress –  all in one day! For the brunch, I wore jeans and an Asos cape jacket. A quick top knot finished the look and I was out the door in 5-minutes. Stay tuned to next two looks with my statement necklace from Treasures in Vogue!
